Aging Gracefully and Beautifully

I spent the better part of Sunday (my 42nd birthday) and Monday in bed with food poisioning. (UGH!) And I have to say that by the time I was able to get out of bed on Tuesday I had decided that being 42 was no fun at all! But I had to correct my thinking, because let’s face it – aging is a natural process that everyone is subjected to. And in reality, the aging process started the moment we were born. So i can either have a bad attitude and fight it – or embrace it and age the best that I possibly can.
Now, when I say embrace it – I don’t mean to let myself fall apart just because I hit middle age! No, I decided to spend a little more time educating myself about what triggers those pesky unwanted effects of aging and finding the right products to counter those effects to help easily slow down or give the illusion of having halted the aging process before its effects actually get on my nerves.
Of course the first thing that hit me in the face was exactly that – my face! (Which looked much worse from dehydration from being sick!) Actually, from the dehydration I also had the subtle look of CREPE PAPER ARMS – AHHHHHH! And while your case may not be as extreme (or even if it is) – in most cases we can still take steps to protect and help our skin repair itself so that it gives off amore youthful appearance.
But today I’m not going to talk about lotions and skin care products – at least not from the outside. My little bout with illness reminded me that it’s what on the inside that can dramatically affect the look and appearance of your skin.
As years add up, they bring changes that take the youthful look out of you. The function of the cells and organisms in your body shift, creating visible changes that sometimes come rapidly. The aging process may be different with each individual because there are many factors that contribute to it, but the bottom line is, everyone will surely get to it at one point of their lives or another.
One of the first things you can do is ensure that you are drinking plenty of water. And by water I mean just that – WATER. Not diet soda, not tea, not “sugar free low calorie” drinks. Just plain and natural water. Your body craves it, is made of it, and if you give your body what it needs, it will respond with better functioning, better complexion, and a healthier skin.
Eating healthy is another trigger that could make you look and feel young longer. The right choices of foods and taking in the right amounts of them would create a great impact on your body’s vitality. Do away with less fat, less salt, less sugar, and more greens, so your body could enjoy the most benefits from eating rather than suffering from the ugly consequences of not eating right.
Avoiding harmful vices like smoking and alcohol drinking can do loads to you more than you can imagine. Smoking is detrimental to the whole body. It triggers premature death but will not let you go looking young as well. The major components of cigarettes have harmful effects that are especially reflected on your complexion. Dry and rough skin can be caused by the poor circulation and low oxygen levels in your blood, which are generated through puffing airs of smokes. Alcohol, on the other hand, depletes your body of the vitamins and minerals it needed to be functional. It also causes dehydration. Keeping a stress-free and happy life most of the time would surely make you feel better about a lot of things and in the process, would make you age gracefully. Stress affects your body and your well-being greatly so make sure that you manage all the aspects of your life well including your career and your personal and social relationships with people.
So start implementing some of these simple tips and you will start to look and feel younger so that you, too, can age gracefully and beautifully.
