As the trend towards low carbohydrate diets started to increase, many who have acid reflux and started on low carbohydrate diets, stated that their acid reflux was noticeably reduced after a few days of staying on the low carbohydrate diet. This discovery prompted more study into the connection between acid reflux and low carbohydrate diets.
The general definition of acid reflux is the occurrence of stomach acid backing up into the esophagus due to varied factors. Some factors may include the malfunction of the esophageal sphincter or the physical position of an individual immediately after consuming a heavy meal.
